adventures with nana and papa (by Madeline and Belle)

The last 3 weeks, our grandparents have been here in Kenya. We will give you a little report on what we have done. . .

 

 

Week 1

In week 1 we mostly hung out. We walked up to school and back down (which Papa says is 1.4 miles altogether). Also, we had an awesome surprise of new American Girl dolls.  Nana and Papa went on an adventure to Kitengela Glass while we were in school. The second week is a bigger adventure. -M

Papa built loft beds for us with Daddy. Dad got the flu and he helped finish the loft bed wit ha mask on so I could sleep in it the first night. They unscrewed our beds and built them in our room with stilt-like ladder on the end. -B

Week 2

On Tuesday, I went on a field trip to the Boma’s of Kenya. Both my Nana and my Papa came. I was in a group of 4. My Nana was my leader and the other girls in my class were my mates. We saw different tribe’s homes. We also went to an auditorium. We saw tribal dances and I even got to be in one. Then on Wednesday and Thursday I had a substitute and Friday. I had a reading party and Nana read to my class from a book  that my mom got from her 5th grade teacher. -M

Week 2 we had lots of people for dinner and had dinner at Miss Stephanie’s house. On Saturday we went to Crescent Island. We saw a lot of giraffes and we got about 12 feet away from them. We also saw really cool zebras and we got 15 feet away from them, but then they ran away.  Then we went to a restaurant that was built out of wood and I got a pizza and chocolate milkshake. It was a yummy day. -A

Week 3

In week 3, my family (including Nana and Papa) went to a house in Malewa and to Kedong Ranch. In Malewa, we chilled. But at Kedong Ranch we had a blast! When we got to Kedong Ranch we got mango drinks and rested. At golden light, we went for a game drive and found lots of giraffes.  I got to ride on the roof! We took awesome jumping pictures right before we went back. Then we fed newborn Thompson gazelles with a bottle – that was fun. -M

The Thompson gazelles were 4 days and 4 hours old when we met them. We named them Lazy and Cinnamon. We also had delicious apple slices with butter, a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar.

We love having Nana and Papa with us. We will miss them when they are gone.
